The important stuff, kept simple.

When you create or use a Summitr account, we may collect:

• Your name, username, and email address
• Hometown or location information
• Date of birth and gender, if provided
• Profile biography and preferences
• State highpoint completion dates and summit records
• Notes, photos, and other content you upload
• Links you provide, such as Strava, GPX, or supporting evidence

We may also process limited technical information necessary to operate and secure Summitr, such as IP address, browser information, authentication data, and security-related request information.

We use information to:

• Create and maintain your account
• Store and display your highpoint records
• Provide public profiles and summit registers when you choose to make them public
• Authenticate users and protect accounts
• Prevent spam, fraud, abuse, and automated activity
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve Summitr
• Communicate with you about your account or the service
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use

Summitr is designed in part to let highpointers document and share their progress.

Information you choose to make public may be visible to anyone on the Internet and may be indexed, copied, shared, or archived by third parties outside Summitr's control.

You are responsible for deciding what information to make public.

Photos, notes, summit records, and other content you upload are stored so Summitr can provide its logging and profile features.

You retain ownership of content you upload. Summitr does not claim ownership of your photos or summit stories.

Summitr does not use advertising cookies, behavioral advertising, or third-party analytics tracking.

We may use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies that are strictly necessary for authentication, maintaining your session, security, and account preferences.

Summitr uses third-party service providers to help operate, host, secure, and maintain the service.

These providers may process personal information as necessary to provide services such as hosting, database and file storage, authentication, and security.

Summitr does not sell your personal information or share it with third parties for advertising purposes.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information stored by Summitr. However, no Internet service or storage system can guarantee absolute security.

We retain your account information and user content while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide Summitr.

If you schedule account deletion in Settings, your profile is hidden immediately and your existing sessions are ended. Your account becomes eligible for permanent deletion 14 days after the request. Signing in again before that deadline automatically cancels the request and restores your account.

When permanent deletion is processed, Summitr removes your account profile, email and sign-in data, summit logs, notes, uploaded photos and their stored files, profile history, and other account-owned data from its active systems. Your former username remains unavailable for 14 additional days before it may be claimed by another user.

If you have an approved 48- or 50-state finisher entry, that entry is preserved as an unlinked historical registry record rather than deleted with your account. It may continue to display the approved name, milestone, hometown, completion date, and final-state details recorded in the finisher snapshot, but it no longer links to your profile or username. Pending, returned, or rejected finisher submissions are deleted with the account.

Limited de-identified audit or moderation records may be retained for security and service integrity. Some information may also remain temporarily in service-provider backups or be retained when reasonably necessary for fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or legal obligations.

You may update certain profile information and privacy settings through your account.

You may schedule account deletion through Settings. The 14-day cancellation period, the additional 14-day username reservation, and the historical-finisher exception are described in Data Retention above. Summitr is not directed to children under 13. Users must be at least 13 years old to create an account.

Summitr may contain links submitted by users or links to third-party services. We do not control the privacy practices, content, or availability of those services.

We may update this Privacy Policy as Summitr develops or its practices change. The effective date above will be updated when changes are made.
